Programme Partner – Motorcycle Safety Advisory Council – 12-month fixed term contract – Wellington

  • Partner with MSAC to develop and deliver motorcycle prevention programmes

  • Create better safety outcomes for the motorcycling community

  • Contribute to reducing motorcycling injuries in New Zealand

Reducing the incidence and severity of injuries is a strategic priority for ACC and one of the many ways we help to improve lives every day. ACC is increasing its investment in injury prevention and implementing an ambitious Injury Prevention Strategy.

ACC’s vision is to create a unique partnership with every New Zealander, improving their quality of life by minimising the incidence and impact of injury. ACC is shifting the ways we work with New Zealanders to deliver meaningful support and guidance in the prevention, care and recovery from injury. Within this, ACC's Injury Prevention Programmes are part of inter-agency efforts that are making great progress in reducing New Zealand's injury rate.

One of these is our close working relationship with The Motorcycle Safety Advisor Council (MSAC).

MSAC was formed to promote safe practices across all motorcycle and moped riders, communities and clubs and to advise on the expenditure of the Motorcycle Safety Levy. They share key messages with the government and motorcycle communities and act as a point of co-ordination on views relating to motorcycle safety. This includes the aspiration to be the “Voice of the Motorcyclists” towards central agencies and government.

We work closely with MSAC to have a joined-up approach to motorcycle safety and work towards a common strategy for promoting motorcycle safety initiatives.

In this unique and highly collaborative role, you will be a conduit for bringing the shared strategic directions for MSAC and ACC to life through designing and developing joint motorcycle safety interventions.

As the Programme Partner, you will design initiatives proposed by MSAC and will present these for investment through the Injury Prevention investment pipeline. The key to success in this role will be your ability to work holistically across two organisations and bring together the shared vision of both MSAC and ACC. This will require an ability to work objectively and with transparency at all times.

As this is a stand-alone role, you will need to ensure that all required administration is kept up to date – ensuring the workplan is being followed and all parties are kept on track. This requires a certain amount of confidence and credibility. This role will require someone with a strength of character and a passion for navigating challenges to obtain an excellent outcome for our customers.

What we are looking for from you to be successful in this role:

  • Significant Programme, project and campaign management experience, able to demonstrate high quality communication skills over multiple media platforms

  • Strong business writing skills for the preparation of investment papers for MSAC and ACC

  • Proven ability to communicate with a broad range of stakeholders.

  • Self-awareness and ability to work credibly and confidently

  • Experience of managing and delivering multiple projects

  • Experience of risk management and project governance

  • A strong team ethic and ability to bring a group together

  • Experience of managing multi-disciplinary teams of professionals

  • Experience in managing meetings and minute writing skills

  • Computer literacy and familiarity with MS Office and Adobe Acrobat

  • Ability to work independently, while maintaining key relationships

  • A knowledge of, and commitment to, motorcycle safety (although being a rider is not required)
