About the Role:


The Manager Solution Development is a key role within our Solution Delivery team, Technology & Innovation Business Unit and sits within a leadership team of five. You will be responsible for leading a team of 3-5 managers who lead a number of key Engineering Practices.


We already have our Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) in place, with a large number of ARTs. This role will be focussing on developing multiple highly effective engineering Practices that comprise of People, Process, Tools and Innovation to enable an Agile and DevOps way of working.


You will work collaboratively with the wider leadership team to continuously improve practices with a consistent approach to innovative processes and technologies that increase speed to value.


To be successful in this role you will have a detailed and proactive understanding of your customers, be a passionate advocate for our team and build solid and sustainable relationships. You will create and develop continuously improving Engineering Practices and be recognised as a leader of Engineering services across the Organisation.


About you:


  • Extensive and proven experience of leading people and building / maturing practices/capabilities within complex IT environments
  • Experience leading teams to create and then continuously deliver on complex plans that significantly improve all aspects of Practices and Capabilities within an Agile/DevOps environment
  • Successfully coached and led managers within complex technical environments
  • Foundational understanding of all Engineering Practices (e.g. Development, Testing, Config, Technical Analysis, Technical Leadership, DevOps, Release & Deployment, etc.)
  • Experience negotiating with 3rd party suppliers and utilising multiple resourcing models
  • Built high performing teams with a collaborative and fun culture
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to proactively build and maintain effective relationships at a variety of levels
  • Drive innovation and adopt new ways of working
