We are looking for an Enterprise Architect to lead the Architecture strategic direction across two of our Portfolio Value Streams, Levy and Insurance Management and Protection from Injury. You will work closely with key Value Stream stakeholders  and the product delivery teams associated with the Agile Release Trains which deliver strategic outcomes for ACC . This is a great opportunity to work in an Agile organisation and play a leading role in the maturity of the ACC Architecture practice as we pivot to support a continuous delivery model.


About the Role:

Our Enterprise Architects provide architectural leadership.  They work as part of the extended community of Architects ensuring the development and adherence to ACC's Enterprise Architecture, principles, and standards.

The Enterprise Architect provides guidance and contributes to road maps, principles, standards, and best practices. They are focused on enabling business and IT leaders to make investment decisions that balance and prioritise current operational and performance demands, disruptions and opportunities, with the longer-term strategic vision of the organisation.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying, evaluating, and recommending strategic options for ACC Value Stream Owners and Executive sponsors, advising on those options, the key risks, costs versus benefits, system impacts and technology priorities.
  • Building long term strategic relationships with business leaders to understand business outcomes and help them understand the trade-offs of short term outcomes vs. long term strategic benefits.
  • Capturing and prioritising market and environmental trends, business strategies and objectives, and identifying the business benefits of alternative strategies.
  • Establishing the relative contribution of People, Process, Information and Technology to business outcomes, conducting feasibility studies, experimentation and prototyping as required.
  • Leading the creation and review of a systems capability strategy that meets the strategic requirements of the business.
  • Assisting in the development of enterprise wide architecture and processes, ensuring that the strategic application of change is embedded in the management of the organisation, and the buy-in of all stakeholders.
  • Supporting strategic planning using business horizon vision, objectives and roadmaps, enabling proactive and targeted investment in business or technology services. And representing a current vs. future state as a cohesive architecture viewpoint.
  • Ensuring compliance between business strategies, enterprise transformation activities and technology directions, setting strategies, policies, standards and practices. This includes the support of all architectural disciplines and championing of architectural initiatives.


What we are looking for from you to be successful in this role:

  • Architecture delivery experience in large and complex organisations, including ability to make decisions and sound recommendations using critical analysis, and comprehensive communication skills.
  • Translating business outcomes to an architectural runway.
  • Sound understanding of architectural principles, practices, and processes as applied in the delivery of enterprise architecture.
  • Ability to drive standardised component based architectures to deliver repeatable outcomes.
  • Complete understanding and knowledge of a wide range of programme and project management methodologies.
  • Extensive Technology leadership.
  • Experience with Agile architecture. The set of values, practices, and collaborations that support the active, evolutionary design and architecture of a system, including acute awareness of the importance of balancing emergent design with intentional architecture.
  • Ability to drive innovation and adopt new ways of working.
  • Providing architectural advice and guidance to influence diverse product and service delivery teams.
  • Ability to build and maintain a range of effective business relationships within an organisation and a wide network of professional relationships across organisations, technology partners, suppliers  and wider government sector.
  • Communicating with a wide range of audiences on a range of complex issues, including experience with breaking up complex and technical information into consumable strategies.
  • Sound understanding of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) is highly desirable.
