The Continuous Release Specialist is responsible for developing and applying Continuous Release practices so that the benefits of increased speed to value can be realised and the business can benefit new agile ways of working.  You will also be working closely with relevant teams to ensure the smooth transition of Releases towards production.


We are looking for someone who is a leader and a motivator, with proven experience in influencing and coaching others. Demonstrated experience in Continuous Release Management or equivalent disciplines is a must have.  You will have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of DevOps tool chains and practical experience of all aspects of Release & Deployment Management methods, tools, controls and techniques.  Your across the board experience in Continuous Release will mean you have the ability to drive innovation across the organisation and adopt new ways of working.


Key responsibilities of the role and what you need to be successful:
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of DevOps tool chains
  • Release Management or relevant Project Management Qualification
  • Understanding and practical experience of all aspects of Release & Deployment Management methods, tools, controls and techniques and how these can be evolved and matured to support various Solution Delivery Lifecycle approaches (e.g. agile, waterfall, Prince2, SDLC, etc.)
  • Configuration and Provisioning Management (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Salt Stack)
  • Experience in mentoring and executing DevOps, Agile, Lean, and Continuous Delivery best practices
  • Experience in building tools (Maven, Gradle, Ant, NAnt, MSBuild, Rake, GNU Make)
  • Experience in Continuous Integration Tools (BMC RLM, uDeploy, TeamCity, Hudson, Jenkins) and SCM tools (SVN, Git, RTC)
  • Application servers, servlet containers, and web servers (WebSphere, Tomcat, Jetty, Nginx, Mongrel, Microsoft IIS, Apache HTTP server, Unicorn, Gunicorn, uWSGI)
  • Working knowledge of technologies such as Vagrant, VMWare, Python, RoR, Go, Node.JS, Groovy, Java, .NET
  • Experience in leading and influencing/coaching others
  • Strong customer focus and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in leading, motivating and managing people.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong decision making and problem solving skills
  • Ability to drive innovation and adopt new ways of working
  • Demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and contribute to team performance
  • Experience in risk management, and the methods and techniques for the assessment and management of risk.
  • Experience in quality management, and the principles, methods and techniques for the effective management of quality
